The Success in Chemistry website is built upon three main ideas that people learn best with:

  • active practice and meaningful feedback.
  • help and explanation only when needed.
  • video solutions that model how to solve problems or answer questions.

The site was originally built to provide resources for my own chemistry students but is available to anyone. Over time I’ve worked with different learning technologies like cognitive tutors, videos of worked problems, Flash quizzes and activities, etc. Recently I’ve begun using PHP, a programming language, to create my own web leaning applications (see The Name-inator for an example).

The content is based on my own experience as a chemist, high school chemistry teacher, and a learning scientist. Suggestions, comments, requests for features or content, and constructive criticisms are most welcome (send email to DrB@TheGeoExchange.org).
